Against Mean Streets, The Godfather, Taxi Driver, Nashville I would pit Maynila sa Mga Kuko, Manila By Night, Himala, Insiang, Tinimbang Ka Ngunit Kulang, Mortal, and Tatlong Taong Walang Diyos. Brocka, O’Hara and Bernal’s best works compare favorably, in my opinion, to the very best that American filmmakers in the ’70s had to offer.
